Mobile Assessments Across Greater Sydney
A mobile autism or ADHD assessment is a full diagnostic assessment conducted where your child already spends their time — at home, at daycare, at school, or at their regular therapy centre — rather than in an unknown clinic. It uses the same gold-standard tools as any clinic-based assessment, administered by the same clinician. We offer mobile assessments across Greater Sydney. The standard fee is the same as an in-clinic assessment, and there is no current waitlist.
Why We Assess Children Where They Are
Children, particularly children being assessed for autism, often behave very differently in unfamiliar places. A tired, anxious or overstimulated child in a clinic room may not show you the presentation you see every day at home. An assessment conducted in that state describes a child having a hard morning.
Assessing your child where they're most themselves means the observations, and therefore the report, reflect who they actually are. For younger children, children with sensory sensitivities, and children who find new environments stressful, this isn't a convenience — it's a clinical advantage.
Is It The Same Assessment?
Yes. Same tools, same clinician, same process, same report. The standardised instruments are administered exactly as they would be in a clinic. Nothing is shortened or reduced. The only thing that changes is the room.
This matters for a practical reason as well as a clinical one: a diagnosis reached through a mobile assessment carries exactly the same standing with the NDIS, with schools, and with any other service that asks for it.
What a Mobile Assessment Day Actually Looks Like
We come to you at an agreed time. You don't need to prepare your home, tidy up, or coach your child about what's coming. In fact, it's better if you don't. We need to see an ordinary environment.
The assessment session can range from 60 minutes up to 2.5 hours depending on what the assessment is for. We aim to do any parent clinical interviews separately, often via Telehealth, so it doesn’t have to happen with your child in the room.
Where We Travel
Anywhere across Greater Sydney — the Northern Beaches, North Shore, Inner West, Eastern Suburbs, Hills District, Western Sydney, Sutherland Shire and the surrounding areas. If you're unsure whether you're within range, ask.
Who Mobile Assessments Suit Best
Younger children, for whom an unfamiliar clinic is a significant obstacle
Children with sensory sensitivities, or who find new environments distressing
Children with demand-avoidant profiles, who often present very differently when assessed somewhere they feel safe
Families for whom travel, work and sibling logistics make a series of clinic appointments genuinely difficult
Families who want the assessment to reflect their child on an ordinary day rather than an unusual one
Can Adolescents and Adults have a Mobile Assessment?
Yes, though most prefer not to. Adolescents and adults generally find our Brookvale or Neutral Bay rooms a more comfortable and more private setting, often combined with Telehealth for the developmental interview and feedback session. We'll talk through what suits you.
